Brian Femminella


Entrepreneurship, Cybersecurity & Politics

At only 21 years old, Femminella has had the privilege of working alongside some of the top organizations in the communities he is a part of. As a senior at the University of Southern California, Femminella has grown his portfolio in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, political theory, criminal & cyber law, and leadership. During his budding career, he has acquired work experience from White Sands Missle Range Cyber Command, U.S. House of Representatives for the Office of the Majority Whip, USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies, & the Democratic National Committee. He is now the CEO of SoundMind, and a growing advocate for the LBGTQ+ community.




Artificial Intelligence Team/

Medical Virtual Reality Technologies REU Intern

2020 - 2021

  • Utilizing specific development software to integrate Swift and Adobe XD development and design into a virtual human A.I. driven interface.

  • Currently leading the prototype and statistical research efforts of the virtual agent during COVID-19

  • Drafted publications on certain areas of specialization mental health therapy, motor and cognitive skills rehabilitation, assessment, and clinical skills training.

  • Conducted first-hand research using specific VR technologies on the effects of binaural beats and visual 3D experiences on one’s mood, heart rate, concentration and anxiety levels.

  • Selected as 1 of 9 to receive the National Science Foundation Research Fellowship and Grant to conduct extensive quantitative and qualitative research on organizational behavior and human-computer interaction.


Legislative Intern

2019 - 2020

  • Drafted legislative agendas, conducted legislative research for bill writing, worked with constituents through email and phone communication, and assisted on certain policy matters.

  • Participated and summarized hearings and testimonials of high-level government officials on topics including historical Presidential impeachment trials, Coronavirus lockdown plans, election security, and the spread of disinformation

  • Worked specifically on legislation addressing military affairs, broadband, cybersecurity, and healthcare.

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

2020 - Present

  • Currently serve as the CEO and Founder of SoundMind, where I empower and lead a team of researchers, technology developers, mobile designers, and strategists to drive business vision and growth.

  • Executing the latest research methods on how to mitigate indicators surrounding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, sexual assault, depression and severe anxiety through extensive research studies backed by leading institutions.

  • Developing a mental health tech-based research and development company that strives to utilize machine learning, firsthand research and AA-compliant UI designs to bring the latest mental health resources to the palm of your fingertips.


Programming Committee

2020 - Present

  • Selected as one of 53 student ambassadors to represent the student body to the USC Alumni Board of Governors and Alumni Association representing nearly half-a-million alumni globally.

  • Implemented ways to overhaul structure of student organization to include committee-system for increased participation; the creation of Diversity & Inclusion committee; and re-enhanced efforts of summer 2020 events to connect Trojans with alumni across 15 countries and 30 states through online webinars and Zoom gatherings due to COVID-19.

Enlisted Soldier and Military Cadet

2017 - Present

  • Platoon Leader and Distinguished Graduate at Basic Combat Training, leading my fellow soldiers to complete physically and mentally enduring tasks.

  • Provided administrative and organizational support to my superior officers, by implementing performance databases, training materials, and company operations orders.

  • Currently serving as the Trojan Batallion S1, developing and executing logistical operations.

  • Commissioning as a Distinguished Military Graduate (DMG) in May 2022 (top 20% nationwide).

Summer 2019

  • Developed critical policies for standard operating procedures of sensitive material on DoD Networks for logging and accountability. (Successful implementation of the Cyber Workforce and Classified Removable Media policies).

  • Strategically worked with COMSEC operations to complete encryption and destruction of mission-specific keys.
